Free shift schedule template.

A one-week work schedule grid that does the one calculation a spreadsheet should: how many people are actually on, each day. Staff down the side, days across the top, shifts as start–end times — and a coverage-count row that tallies itself.

Free, no email required. Imports cleanly into Google Sheets via File → Import.

Who it's for

Any team that schedules a week at a time and lives off a printed sheet or a shared file: a restaurant floor, a hotel desk, a clinic front office, a store. If your current schedule is a whiteboard photo in a group chat, this is one honest step up.

How to use it

  1. Put one person per row, with their role next to their name.
  2. Enter shifts as start–end times, e.g. 7:00–15:00. Write OFF for a scheduled day off; leave blank if unscheduled.
  3. Watch the "On shift" row at the bottom — it counts who is on per day, so a zero under Saturday is visible before Saturday.
  4. Duplicate the sheet tab each week (or copy the file), update the "Week of" date, adjust.

When the template stops being enough

A spreadsheet shows the plan. It can't tell you who actually showed up, take a call-out at 6 am, or let a coworker claim the empty Saturday shift from their phone. When the template starts costing you mornings, Schedio imports this exact grid from a CSV — your roster and a typical week land in a live dashboard with coverage, swaps and hand-off notes, at $49 a month per location.
