Connect an AI assistant

You can connect your Schedio account to Claude or ChatGPT and then ask about the schedule in your own words: "who is on tonight?", "put Maria on Tuesday", "anyone short next week?". The assistant reads and writes the same schedule your team sees, acting as you, with exactly the access your own account has.

It takes one address and about twenty seconds, and you can disconnect it at any time.

Connect it

The address is the same for everyone:

In Claude: open Settings → Connectors, choose Add custom connector, and paste that address.

In ChatGPT: open Settings → Connectors and choose Create (custom connectors are available on ChatGPT's paid plans), then paste that address.

Either way, a Schedio page opens asking what the connector may do. Sign in if you are not already, read the list, and choose Connect. You land back where you started, ready to ask.

Menu names move as these apps change. If you cannot find Connectors, search their settings for "connector" or "MCP" – it is the same thing, and it is the only place an address like ours belongs.

What it can do

When you connect, you choose what the assistant may do. Each of these is a separate choice:

Read your schedule – shifts, coverage, people and open requests at the locations you can already see.
Change the schedule – create, edit and delete shifts, copy or clear a week, send the schedule to your team.
Handle requests – file and answer time off, shift swaps and shift changes.
Message Schedio support – send a note to our support team on your behalf. You see the text first.

Staff are never offered "change the schedule", because a staff account cannot do that in Schedio either.

Things to ask

Reading the week – anyone can ask these:

What does my schedule look like next week?
Who is on the front desk tomorrow morning?
Which hours next week are we still short on?
Is anyone working more than 40 hours this week?

Building the schedule – for managers and owners:

Put Maria on Tuesday 9 to 5 at the front desk.
Move my Thursday shift to start at 10 instead of 8.
Copy last week onto the week of the 28th, front desk only.
Fill the open shifts next week and show me the draft before publishing.
Send next week to the team once it looks right.

Time off and swaps:

I need the 5th to the 9th of October off for a family visit.
Put my Saturday shift on the open shifts list.
What requests are waiting on me?
Approve Liam's day off on the 12th.

Telling us something – this reaches a real person at Schedio, and you see the exact text before it is sent:

You do not need special wording. Ask the way you would ask a colleague, and name the location if you work at more than one.

What it cannot do

See more than you can. It acts as you. If you look after one department, it sees that department.
Change anything without asking. Both Claude and ChatGPT prompt you before running anything that writes, and the assistant reads back what it is about to do first.
Touch your account. No billing, no deleting the workspace, no changing anyone's role.
Sign in to Schedio in a browser. What it holds works at the connector address and nowhere else.
Get around your rules. A scheduling rule that blocks a shift on the schedule page blocks it here; a manager who looks after one department cannot write into another; a workspace on hold cannot be rewritten.

Disconnect it

Open Settings → Sign-in & security, find the app under Connected apps, and choose Disconnect. It stops working on its very next request, not at the end of some session.

If you own the workspace, that same section also shows every assistant anyone here has connected, with who connected it, and you can disconnect any of them.

A few things worth knowing

Dates land in your location's time zone. The assistant asks Schedio what today is at each of your locations before it does anything with dates, so "next Tuesday" means the Tuesday your team is working.

Only what you ask about is sent. The assistant fetches the shifts or people it needs to answer your question, and that text goes through the assistant the same way anything else you type there does. Schedio does not push anything in the background, and nothing is sent when you are not using it.

Text your team wrote is read out, not obeyed. Shift notes, handover notes and time-off reasons are written by people in your workspace. Schedio marks them as text to read rather than instructions to follow, so a note cannot tell the assistant to do something.

Grok and others. The connector follows an open standard, so any assistant that speaks it and can sign in properly will work. Grok cannot do that yet; when it can, it will connect the same way.
